English Language Challenges

Hello, today I will write about my experience with the Subject English Language in the university and his influence en my life.

In the school the subject English Language were low therefore where I had the subject in the university for first time I was very nervous, well still is a challenges, but I think that now I am more qualified, I know that I don’t speak as an expert and that my pronunciation is horrible, but in comparison to pass I can to write an to read more. In this the blog has been a great support because the blog has allowed practice every week.

In general the aspect that more need improved is to understand as a person speaks. I plan watch American series as Glee! for improve this. Other aspect to progress is my vocabulary. Too I like play game in the computer or cellular phone, for example the otome game, than in his majority are in English, motive for the I not played it, but now I think that it will be useful for increase my vocabulary.

Too there are many books, mangas or investigations in English that I can to read if I know English. In my life I using English a little, only for to speak/write with persons of other country. Though this happen once in a while.

In the pass I believed that I not need the English in my live but now I has taken awareness of his importance. To speak English is as a key that open many doors in the world.

Bye 2013!!!

The years is finishing, therefore it is time of star the balance of the years 2013. In general has been a good year, with thing good and bad, but always it is best remember the positive. I bought a carnivorous plant, that have more of two month with me and the plant has surviving (I am bad for to look after living being, I have had fish and other plant that in one month die). I spoke with people that I not see in much time, it was nice and I met new peoples and I participate of various Seminar of Literature.  For other side I finished friendship that I think was forever and I suffered theft of my cellular phone of my handbag.

This year I archived win my fears and I can the semester past to make a presentation in English with person that I not met.

Yet there are many things for to make, for example a presentation in Kamishibai, a difficult challenge for me, because I have that create a story, illustrate it and present it in public.

This year has been interesting, I has learning new thing and I has discovered that I to know more of the that I think. I enjoy my practices with child little (2-3 years old) and I wish that the next years, my practice professional in the Ludoteca it has well so the previous.

In the vacation I would like to visit Tomé, a place where lived when I was a child.

Censured in the books

When speaking about book that reveals secrets, the first that coming to my minds is “The Da Vinci code”

The Da Vinci code is a novel written by Dan Brown. This book were published in 2003. The book has been translated into 44 languages, transforming in a bestsellers.

The story tell the adventure of the expert in symbol Robert Langdon and cryptologist Sophie Neveu for solve various mystery that them will take to discover the Holy Grail´s secrets. Secrets that have been hide for the Catholic Church.

Although the author has not been censored, the book has been extensively denounced by many Christian denominations as an attack on the Roman Catholic Church. It has also been consistently criticized for its historical and scientific inaccuracies. Also in Lebanon is prohibited.

Personally I don´t know any author or book censored for reveal secrets about history, but is very known the censure that made the Catholic Church a many authors and books in the “Index of prohibited books”.

Too many books have been censured in different country, for example:

“Origen of species” of Darwin, censured in UK, Greece, and Yugoslavia for motive religious.

“Alice´s Adventures in Wonderland” of Carroll, censured in China for to award characteristic human to the animals.

“The Adventure of Sherlock Homes” of Doyle, prohibited in UK for esoteric beliefs of his authors.

Today the censorship is difficult because to existence of different mass media who allow publish without restrictions. In my opinion the censure only make that the people want read them

HOW GREEN ARE YOU?

In general the internet has allowed that the people learn about environmentally friendly practices, but really little people practices this action. In my case I not know many and I live with my mother therefore for me is difficult make something.

In my family not to be habits of recycling, only we interest of take care of the water, not to use many sack of plastic or give the clothes that we not used, but I think that we can make more as to divide the litter and recycling the paper, piece of glass, and product vegetable as peel.

Personally I love walk and I hate the transport public, therefore if I know that it are distance short I prefer use my legs, I not speak about the bike or car because not have, but I think that I will prefer the bike, it is good for my and the environment.

I would like to be part of Greenpeace, because I think that it is great that they maked, but for time and money I not can, but I wish someday make them.

Really I don’t know what more I would like do, but I think that the important is protect the environment with little details as plant a tree or plant in general.

In my opinion our society not haves environmental awareness, I think that Santiago should have more green areas, bikeways, an program of recycling, and to work this topic from the school. I see kindergarten with a program educational environmental where the child not are part.

Endangered Animals in Chile

In the world there are many endangered animal, due to the destruction of his habitat or to the hunt. There are around 10 endangered species in Chile, for example:

Huemul, this animal belong to the family of the deer, it live in at “Cordillera de los Andres” and it is a symbolize of the country considering that we can see in the national shield but it is threatened for the poaching, the attack of domestic dog, the shepherding intensive for large periods, the transmission of infirmity for the domestic cattle and the loss of the habitat for cause human.

Zorro Chilote, it is the fox more little that live in Chile, it live in Chiloe and at “Cordillera de Nahuelbuta”. It is threatened for the loss and destruction of his habitat and the hunt of farmer for “protect” his animals.

Chinchilla Cordillerana, it is a little rodent that live in at “Cordillera de los Andes” in the north. This animal is hunt for his leather.

Zorro Culpeo, this fox live in mountains, meadow, desert and forest from Ecuador for “la Cordillera de los Andes” until Tierra del Fuego in Chile. This animal is hunted and envenomed for his leather or for the “threat“ that represent for the cattle.

For protect the endangered species in Chile exist some group like GREENPEACE CHILE, SOPRAMA, CODEFF, SAG, CONAF, REFUGIO ANIMAL CASCADA DE LAS ANIMAS, etc.

Is it right to try to 'normalise' autism?

The theme of today is a news that to speak about a teaching method for autism “ABA” or “Applied Behavioural Analysis”, the Jack's experience, the it work with autistic child, and Treetops, a school with this method.

Jack is a child of 4 years old with autism. He had regularly refused to eat anything except baby food and custard, and it had to be a particular brown colour. If his mother (Julie Barber) tried anything else he would be sick.

The last year, Jack started at Treetops, one of a handful of state special schools in the UK offering a programme of applied behavioural analysis, or ABA. Today Jack can to go to restaurant or a party and to eat of all.  

First developed in California (US) in the 1960s, ABA uses a system of rewards to change children's behaviour and teach them new skills. The work on children with autism is controversial because the program is compared with the approach to "dog training" or the method is overly demanding.

ABA can be used for anything from improving behaviour to teaching curriculum subjects. The key tactic is to engage the child using individual rewards or "reinforcers".

Treetops used a type of ABA known as verbal behaviour or VB, the child is “paired” with an assistant who carries a bag of "rewards" (toys or props the child enjoys using). If the child perform a task correctly, or behave as they are being taught to, they get a few minutes with their reward. 

For to work with child the flexibility is the key because each child is different, in special for autistic child.

Similarities and differences on book-based movies

In my opinion each means (book and movie) haves his characteristic positive and negative and each one of them has destined a different people. Therefore not is necessary to read the book for to watch the movie. But too it is truth that it is more interesting to read the book, now that the books us can to develop ours imagination.

Sometime the book is longer that the duration of a movie; in consequence, the movie should change some ideas of the book. Too it is possible that a movie not can make as the book say, because of that not exist the effect necessary.

In general many people watching book-based movies without to read the book, therefore his opinion it is based only in the movie. But the people that to read the book in general prefers the book, considering that the book are most complete, and the movie can let with taste little for the fans.

An example is “Crepusculo” that for the fans that read the book the movie not likes, correctly to that the ideas of the book not were respected for the movie.
